Delete your FinCtrlAI account
Last updated: 2026-11-05
This page explains how to delete your account in the FinCtrlAI app (Android, iPhone and web), what we delete, and what we keep and for how long.
Option 1: delete it in the app (immediate)
- Open the FinCtrlAI app and sign in.
- Tap More, then Delete my account.
- Enter your password if your account has one, then confirm.
Your account is deleted immediately and you are signed out on all devices.
Option 2: ask us by email (within 7 days)
If you no longer have the app, email [email protected] from the email address of your FinCtrlAI account, with the subject "Delete my account". We delete the account within 7 days of your request and reply to confirm. We may ask you to confirm the request from that address so nobody else can delete your account.
Before you delete
- Deleting cannot be undone. Export your transactions first if you want a copy.
- If you own a team workspace that has other members, remove the members or delete that workspace first. We never delete other members' data with your account.
- A paid subscription is cancelled automatically, so you are not charged again. Deleting the account is not a refund request; see our Refund Policy.
Data we delete
- Your profile: name, email, password, profile photo, language and notification settings.
- Your personal workspace and the workspaces you own, with all their wallets, transactions, budgets, goals, debts, invoices, categories, attached receipts and AI insights.
- Bank connections: they are disconnected at our banking provider (Plaid) and the bank data we stored is deleted.
- Sign-in data: sessions, app tokens and two-step verification settings. Sign in with Apple and Google links are removed.
- Your subscription and payment history stored in FinCtrlAI.
Data we keep, and for how long
- Security logs (sign-in events with IP address and device): no longer linked to your account, and deleted after 90 days. We keep them to investigate fraud and abuse.
- Backups: our encrypted nightly backups are deleted automatically after 14 days, so your data is gone from them within 14 days.
- Payment and tax records: Paddle.com, the Merchant of Record for our orders, keeps invoices and payment records as tax law requires (usually up to 10 years). We do not control those records.
- Shared team workspaces: transactions you added to a workspace owned by someone else stay in that workspace, because they belong to its owner. Your name is removed from them.
For more about how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
